Fedco Batteries Acquires a 3-D Printer

Fedco can print near-production quality cases to test proof of concept designs and to check for fit into a customer’s host device.  Our existing AutoCAD software inputs handily into the printer.   While the original intent was to print assembly and gluing fixtures to produce higher quality multiple cell battery packs at a lower cost, we are also able to print spacers, protection circuit housings and other isulation sub- assemblies for production batteries. The build volume of 9” x 5” x 5” fits in nicely with the majority of Fedco's OEM products. And the added benefit of producing tooling in-house has reduced the lead-time in production, and increased the quality of Fedco's products. While the technology is still in its infancy, Fedco has found a useful niche for 3D printing and is happy to offer this added value to thier customers with little or no NRE costs. 8/21/2015
